Humane Society Walk-a-thon

On Sunday June 17th, the Arnprior Humane Society held their annual walk-a-thon at a beautiful park along the Ottawa river. Cheryl and I both walked with shelter dogs, Junior and Walker. Paul and Jenna brought their three dogs they adopted from the shelter. The volunteer dog walkers were well represented.

It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for spending the afternoon at a waterfront park. It's so nice to get some of the dogs away from their usual walk around the block that we give them. I ended up raising $122 for the shelter, the grand total they raised was just over $10,000!

It's a well organized event with a door prize area in the park gazebo, a bbq (including veggie burgers), trails that are signed with water stops for the dogs, and of course lots of dogs!

The walk getting underway. It went along the Arnprior marina, we even saw George and Cheryl's boat (but no George in it)

We were quite happy to get out of the sun and walk through the forested area. It's so nice in there.

Me with Junior, how can anyone resist his face?

After the walk Cheryl and I took the dogs for another swim. Junior was so tired he fell asleep in Cheryl's car on the way back.

It was a great day and I look forward to doing it again next year.
